Groupe URD attends the COP21 meeting on Climate Change
Groupe URD will take part in numerous conferences and debates taking place over the next two weeks as part of the COP21 in the Espace Génération Climat at Le Bourget (29th November to 11th December 2015).
Groupe URD supports voices from the South in raising awareness on the impact of Climate Change on the population of countries in crises. While these countries are the lowest emitting nations, they are also the ones the most impacted by climate change. Paris’s COP21 is a unique opportunity to reach a constraining and differentiated agreement.
Groupe URD will attend a number of events and debates (such as those associated with the Research and Water Day on 02/12 and on Human Rights Day on the 10/12) and will share its point of view and experience during a debate organized by Coordination Sud on the links between CC and DRR to be held on the 5th December as well as during the daily inter agency meeting chaired by the RAC.
For more than 10 years now, Groupe URD has been working on issues related to the environmental footprint of humanitarian programmes. In 2012, it has launched the Humanitarian Environment Network and is currently taking part in the French DRR network working on issues related to DRR and Climate Change.
At Groupe URD, we try to practice what we preach, by reducing the environmental footprint of our headquarters via technical choices (solar heated water, photovoltaic electricity production, ecological insulation materials, rainwater harvesting, and phyto-purification) and day-to-day behaviour (recycling, regular planting of trees, car-sharing, etc.). Since 2012, we have also been assessing our greenhouse gas emissions.
