Humanitarian aid in urban contexts and the post-crisis reconstruction of cities: from Kabul to Alep via Port-au-Prince

We will be continuing to work on this subject in the autumn of 2012. In addition to our active participation in the World Urban Forum in Naples, with several round tables on issues related to cities and crises, we will be taking part in a debate on urban fragility during the Convergences 2015 World Forum.
We will also be conducting the evaluation of the ‘Support Programme for the Reconstruction of Housing and Neighbourhoods’ implemented by UN-Habitat in Haiti and we will be involved in discussions about the future of the reconstruction of Kabul, through support for an urbanism competition [1].
Groupe URD has also begun to take part in discussions on the reconstruction of urban areas in Syria destroyed during the current conflict. This will involve numerous talks with the French authorities in New York and in Paris, as well as with colleagues in Britain and in European and UN institutions.
