L’Université d’été de la solidarité internationale, Lyon, 4-7 July
Since 2000, the Université d’été de la solidarité internationale (International Aid Summer School) has been an important event involving training, exchange and debate about key issues affecting international aid. As a member of the regional steering committee, Groupe URD will be running a workshop on risk prevention by international aid organisations.
Every 2 years, international aid organisations from all over France and beyond meet at a summer school (l’Université d’été de la solidarité internationale). This year it is being held in Lyon (Villeurbanne) from 4 to 7 July and will involve training modules, workshops, round tables and activities. Groupe URD has been a member of the summer school’s regional steering committee since the first edition. We will be running a workshop on the issue of risk prevention by international aid organizations. Videos, made by Groupe URD and its partners during the “Resilience” project on disaster risk reduction, will be shown during the summer school in the activity space.
The summer school is run by the Research and Information Centre for Development (CRID) and its 52 members and in 2012 it will be co-organised with the Collectif des Associations de Développement en Rhône-Alpes (CADR). This year it will be run in partnership with the event Dialogues en Humanité which will take place from 6 to 8 July at the Parc de la Tête d’Or.
After the democratic and popular struggles which have recently taken place around the world and in the days following the RIO+20 summit, the cross-cutting theme of this year’s summer school is "Citoyen-ne-s et solidaires, réinventons le monde" (citizens, let us stand together and reinvent the world).
