New training courses in Afghanistan

The training of Afghan managers project, which was launched with ACBAR in July 2010, continues to evolve: new modules, courses in Dari and Pashto and sessions in the provinces are planned for 2012.

A new session of training of trainers will be held in February 2012, following by a session on “managing a team according to project objectives”.

Due to the success of this project, a second phase has been launched. The objective is to make the training courses accessible to more people and to broaden the range of subjects on offer.

  • Modules 1 and 2 will be given in the provinces to allow more people to take them, particularly those who are unable to travel to Kabul. Thus, in the Spring of 2012, courses will be held in Jalalabad (in the South-East of Afghanistan) and in Mazar-i-Sharif (in the North).
In addition, modules 1 and 2 are being translated into Dari and Pashto. This will make them accessible to a wider audience and courses in these languages will be given by ACBAR (Afghan) trainers at the end of 2012.
  • Two new training modules will focus on cross-cutting issues: the environment and humanitarian principles. They will be developed by Groupe URD and will integrate the Afghan context to allow participants to appropriate the issues more easily.
  • Trainers’s handbook has been developed, to guide trainers step-by-step to run courses for Afghan humanitarian managers. They are being translated into Dari and Pashto.
