October: training courses on Quality and Evaluation

Groupe URD will be running two professional training courses in autumn on Quality management and on Evaluation. “Improving the quality of humanitarian projects with the CHS Compas” will take place in Paris on 4-6 October 2017. “Evaluating the quality of humanitarian action” will then be held at Groupe URD’s training centre in Plaisians on 16-20 October 2017. Registration for these courses is open till 21 September and 29 September respectively.

“Improving the quality of humanitarian projects with the CHS Compas” (Paris, 4-6 October) will cover the following areas:

  • Quality management tools and methods that can be used during the implementation of a project;
  • The implications at the institutional level of adopting a Quality approach;
  • Basic day-to-day quality management practices at the operational and institutional levels, using the appropriate tools and methods, including the CHS Compas.

The “Evaluating the quality of humanitarian action” course (Plaisians, 16-20 October 2017) provides participants with all the methodological knowledge needed to carry out or take part in an evaluation of a humanitarian programme.

It covers the following areas:

  • The key concepts of Quality Evaluation;
  • Evaluation criteria and reference frameworks: DAC/OECD, CHS ;
  • The CHS-Compas evaluation method;
  • The different stages of the evaluation process: writing the terms of reference, preparing the evaluation, reflecting on methodology and writing the inception report, collecting information, writing the evaluation report, presenting and using the findings;
  • Initiatives to increase the quality of evaluations;
  • Institutional change to improve the way evaluation is integrated.
