Participation in the 6th World Urban Forum in Naples, 4 September 2012
Groupe URD will chair a round table entitled “Cities and crises : past experiences and future challenges” in the France Pavilion of the 6th World Urban Forum which will be held 1 - 7 September.
The development of urbanization is one of the major challenges of the century. There has been an incredible increase in conflicts, natural disasters and violence in cities, which has brought huge challenges in terms of disaster prevention in cities and humanitarian and development aid methods in urbanized and urban reconstruction contexts.
In order to open the debate on these complex issues, Groupe URD will be chairing a conference entitled “Cities and crises: past experiences and future challenges” on Tuesday 4 September, 4-5 pm, at the France Pavilion which is being run by the Partenariat français pour la Ville et les Territoires (PFVT). The confirmed speakers to date are: François Grünewald, Groupe URD’s Scientific and Strategic Director; Béatrice Boyer, architect and urban planner and head of Groupe URD’s housing and urban planning unit; and Renaud Colombier, Head of Projects in the Governance and Social Inclusion Department of GRET.
Groupe URD will also be showing videos that it has made as part of evaluations of the urban sector in Haiti and of the conference it organized on the subject of “Cities and Crises” at the Paris Mairie in April 2011.
