Each year, Groupe URD gives training courses:
Groupe URD began running 4-day training courses at its training centre in 2006. Their number has now grown to around 6 per year. Most of these are given in French but, depending on demand, they can also be given in English.
Since 2009, new modules have been developed for people who already have solid experience in the sector. These have focused on innovative themes, and certain modules were unique in France when they were launched (“Quality Management in Humanitarian Action”, “Evaluating the Quality of Humanitarian Action”, “Training of Trainers – Quality Management in Humanitarian Action”) or even at the international level (“Mainstreaming the Environment in Humanitarian Action”, developed in 2009 in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme).
Groupe URD has been giving training sessions in academic institutions, to Masters students, for more than 10 years. The aim of these sessions is to help train tomorrow’s aid sector workers as early as possible in order to help improve practices in the near future.
Groupe URD receives a great number of requests for training each year from organisations of all sizes, with different mandates and from different parts of the world. We also regularly respond to French, European and international calls for proposals. In both cases, the thematic modules can be given in two ways: “standard” or “à la carte”, that is to say, adapted to the needs of the client (e.g. case study using one of the organisation’s real projects, etc.)
Groupe URD increasingly runs training courses as part of broader projects to improve the practices of humanitarian and post-crisis actors. We particularly appreciate this kind of mission which is fully in keeping with the approach we advocate, both in terms of activities (which corresponds directly to our collective learning cycle) and in terms of our human resources (an operational team made up of trainer-researcher-evaluators).
