Several tools to share the lessons from the iterative evaluation of the REPI project
Groupe URD carried out the iterative evaluation of the REPI project which aimed to contribute to the sustainable recovery of vulnerable communities affected by the floods of 22 July 2010, and more generally to reduce the socio-economic and climatic vulnerability of communities in the Centre North and East of Burkina Faso, improving the resilience of communities to climatic variability (droughts and floods).
With a view to sharing lessons learnt with all actors and drawing lessons for future operations, a number of tools have been developed:
- Fact sheets have been written summarising the results of the projects in the following sectors: “Environment and livelihoods”, “Targetting of households using the HEA tool” and “Cash transfer”. A more general and detailed document on lessons learned is also available.
- A lesson sharing workshop will be held on 22 May 2013 in Ouagadougou, in order to establish a general appraisal of the project and to share the lessons learned through the REPI 2010 experience with all the stakeholders.
- A film, about both the project and the evaluation process. This video illustrates the challenges of linking relief, rehabilitation and development, and of building the resilience of communities in the Sahel, a region affected by recurring crises. It also helps to understand the functioning and objectives of an iterative evaluation.
