Training of Afghan managers working for international NGOs in Afghanistan (Kabul and the provinces, since December 2009)
Since December 2009, Groupe URD has been running training courses for Afghan civil society organizations (particularly for Afghans working for international NGOs). To help implement this project, Groupe URD established a partnership with ACBAR – the Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief to implement the project. The objective is to build ACBAR training capacity throughout the project in order to ensure a sustainable training programme on humanitarian project management for non-governmental organisations in the future.
Training modules adapted to afghan context
The training modules were developed with funding from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs via the French Embassy in Afghanistan. Groupe URD carried out an assessment, in France and in Afghanistan, to better understand training needs and design tailor-made training courses.
Each course lasts for 5 days and is limited to 20 participants.
- Module 1. From data collection and analysis to report writing and decision-making
Overall objective: to be able to collect data, to analyse it and make relevant decisions based on this data, at each phase of the project cycle.
- Module 2. Project design: building an intervention logic
Overall objective: to have a comprehensive understanding of the different components of humanitarian projects and to be able to play an active role in project design and proposal writing.
- Module 3. Managing a team according to project objectives
Overall objective: to be able to lead a team during project implementation and to make relevant decisions for the project and the team according to changes in the context.
- Module 4. Training of trainers
Overall objective: to be able to facilitate trainings. It combines different training and presentation strategies with practical exercises and small training sessions led by the participants. This enables the participants to experience and directly put into practice the new skills they learn during the training course.
