Two sessions in Training of Trainers in Evaluation in May 2014

Our training activities in Haiti form part of a long-term investment plan. We hope that our training courses will help build a solid pool of highly competent Haitian evaluators who have the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct project evaluations. Haiti Observatory organised two Training of Trainers sessions in Port-au-Prince in May 2014 for University Professors, professionals involved in evaluation or training activities, senior ministerial staff, civil society representatives, etc. One training session focused on providing participants with all the necessary knowledge and skills so that they can run their own “Evaluation of Quality” training within their own organisations or for local partners. Indeed, several people who attended this course are already planning training sessions on “Evaluation of the Quality of Humanitarian Action” before end 2014.

The second Training of Trainers session aimed to provide Haitian professionals with the necessary tools to facilitate adult trainings. Creative training techniques were shared with the participants and then everyone had a chance to practise their newly acquired knowledge and receive personalised advice on their strengths and ideas on how to build on their training expertise. One participant, a Professor at the Haitian State University (UEH), expressed the wish for this training to be provided to all teachers and professors at UEH in order to improve the quality of their teaching. Another teacher explained that she completely revised her course after the training.
