Workshop: “Environment and Reconstruction”
A workshop was held in Groupe URD’s office in Pacot on Friday 17 August entitled “Environment and Reconstruction: the case of Bristout-Bobin”. This workshop is part of a study carried out by Groupe URD on the theme of “The Environment and Reconstruction in the Metropolitian Region of Port-au-Prince”. Three case studies have been chosen (Bristout-Bobin, Morne L’Hôpital and Canaan/Corail) to assess how environmental risks are taken into account in the reconstruction strategy with a particular focus on the possible links between self-building and people’s exposure to risks.
The discussion workshops are an integral part of the research work, aiming to collect the points of view and analyses of specialists on the subject and to share the Groupe URD team’s initial conclusions. In addition to the workshops, the study includes a literature review, in situ field visits, the collection of information from institutions and the population and participation in meetings. A report of around twenty pages will be written on Bristout-Bobin and an article will be written for Groupe URD’s Observatory Newsletter.
