Workshop on jobs and professional training in Port-au-Prince
On 10 July 2014, the Observatory ran a workshop in Port-au-Prince on new jobs in the post-earthquake context. The workshop brought together fifteen people, including staff and students from Haiti State University and representatives of humanitarian and development organisations who are active in reinforcing livelihoods and income-generating activities, access to jobs or professional training in the neighbourhoods of Port-au-Prince.
This workshop was part of a study that the Observatory is conducting on this theme and consisted of bringing key people and competencies together to discuss a precise topic – income generation and professional training. It also aimed to collect and share experiences between the institutions that were present.
The participants underlined that Haiti’s objectives of economic and social development are dependent on a clear and effective strategy with regard to professional training.
