The Analysis of practices (through evaluations or knowledge management) can bring issues to the fore which need to be studied in more depth due to their importance and complexity.
Drawing up and running applied research programmes is a very important part of the work we do at Groupe URD. Experience has shown that researching, analysing and discussing important issues for the humanitarian sector has been essential to improve practices.

Each year our team of experts carries out studies of sector-based and cross-cutting issues in order to highlight lessons for the future. Each research programme is built on concrete case studies which bring together viewpoints and experiences from different programmes in the field.
The overall objective of our applied research is to improve understanding of the main issues facing humanitarian actors and of emergency and natural disaster contexts. The research findings are made available to a broad public via publications and/or the organisation of debates and conferences.
Groupe URD develops applied research projects and actively carries out work on a number of research topics.
