Real-time evaluation of emergency relief response in the Horn of Africa
Summer - Autumn 2006, for the IASC

Surrounded by a multidisciplinary team, Groupe URD has been commissioned by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) to carry out a real-time assessment of the response to emergency aid provided following the drought in the Horn of Africa.

Following the drought in the Horn of Africa in 2005, the international community strengthened its coordination mechanisms between the Health, Nutrition and Water and sanitation sectors.

The objective of this evaluation was to analyse the added value and benefits of these changes.

Field visits took place from mid-August to mid-October in Somalia, Northern Kenya and Ethiopia.
