Training course: Evaluating the quality of humanitarian projects

The Observatory’s first training course took place in Port-au-Prince at the Haiti State University from 23 to 27 April, 2012. 20 people in total took part: 9 international NGOs, 4 national NGOs or Grassroots Community Organisations, 2 independent consultants, 2 teachers from Haiti State University, 1 person from the Ministry of Education and 2 Groupe URD employees. An external facilitator – a Sociology professor from the University – presented a module which lasted half a day on data collection tools.

We remain at the disposal of participants for any technical support they may require over the following months. Questions concerning the preparation or the carrying out of project evaluations can be addressed to the Haiti Observatory office.

A day of experience sharing and analysis on specified subjects is planned within 3 to 4 months. This will be an opportunity to identify difficulties encountered by participants in carrying out evaluations within their organization.

A second training session will take place from 21 to 25 May 2012 in Port-au-Prince. Between 16 and 20 people will take part in this session which again will be held in Haiti State University.

A training session is also planned in the city of Gonaïves during the month of July. This will be confirmed depending on the number of people interested.
