Workshop: “Humanitarian space and access in Mali”

Each time humanitarian assistance is provided in a conflict context, access to the population and, more broadly, the protection of humanitarian space, are of central concern to the different actors involved. This takes different forms and poses specific challenges depending on the context. However, a certain number of fundamentals and generic issues exist: the relationship between civil and military actors, relations between the state and NGOs, the methods used to provide humanitarian workers with security and their access to the population, etc. Having worked on this subject in numerous contexts, including Afghanistan, Somalia, Haiti and Chad, Groupe URD is co-organising a workshop on humanitarian space in Mali alongside UN agencies and NGOs on 18 and 19 February in Bamako.
