Study of socio-economic vulnerability and the development of methodological tools to monitor Solidarités’ programmes in South Darfur
October - December 2008

A Groupe URD researcher travelled to Darfur to carry out a detailed analysis of socio-economic vulnerability in the area where Solidarités was running projects with the aim of improving their monitoring and evaluation methods.

This study carried out with Solidarités staff in Darfur involved a number of activities:

  • An assessment of existing methods and tools for monitoring and analysing vulnerabilities;
  • The implementation of new and more adapted methods and tools (household survey questionnaires, qualitative interview guide, etc.);
  • Training of field staff in Muhajeria to familiarise them with the new tools;
  • Development of an analysis framework for vulnerabilities at the general level (context) and the specific level (households).
