Following an initial phase of needs assessment, team preparation, and project and activity design, the RESILAC*2 project was officially launched in April 2025!
Building upon the successes of RESILAC Phase 1 (2018-2022), stakeholders have pledged to continue their efforts in the region through the launch of a second phase. With a total budget of €40 million, RESILAC 2 is co-funded by the EU and AFD and executed by a consortium that includes Action against Hunger (lead partner), CARE, and Groupe URD, in collaboration with the CCFD-Terre Solidaire network, 13 civil society organizations, sub-regional and national authorities.
The project will target 118,000 direct beneficiaries and aims to reach more than 500,000 people indirectly, including key actors in the region (young women and men), vulnerable households (displaced persons, refugees and host communities), local institutions and stakeholders, as well as certain community associations and organisations.
Within the consortium, Groupe URD, as the project’s learning partner and knowledge manager, is responsible for developing and managing the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) strategy, as it was for the first RESILAC.
To this end, it has started certain activities, such as training for RESILAC staff (members of the regional office and country offices) on the CHS Standard (core humanitarian standard) and the method for monitoring the impact of crops, and will soon launch an initial exercise to review and iteratively evaluate the project. The main objective of this EIMS will be to promote internal learning. The aim will therefore be to draw lessons from the project launch phase and share operational recommendations with the regional office and the three countries of intervention in order to strengthen ownership of the project and ensure the successful implementation of activities going forward.
He has also produced four podcasts to shed light on certain aspects of contextual understanding that determine how to work in these countries, the activities that are being considered, and the opportunities that may arise.
