Groupe URD is one of the custodians of the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), a reference framework for Quality & Accountability to ensure that organisations supporting people and communities affected by crisis and vulnerability respect their rights and dignity and promote their primary role in finding solutions to the crises they face. Groupe URD is the lead developer of the Quality and Accountability COMPASS (https://www.urd.org/en/publication/compass-handbook-october-2018/), a methodological guide issued in 2018 that helps organizations translate the CHS into precise activities in the project cycle, with 4 main entry points: implementing, funding, evaluating, and improving projects.
With the revision of the CHS in 2024, Groupe URD is embarking on a 2025 revision of its guide, with the following objectives:
- Clarify the operational application of CHS in concrete, practical terms;
- Illustrate the application of the CHS with real-life examples and case studies;
- Facilitate access to the CHS standard for smaller organizations;
- Strengthen the sector’s quality and accountability practices.
Groupe URD is conducting a survey as part of the revision process to gather feedback from organizations and individuals to help us better align with the diverse needs of various organizations and the current situation in the sector, through a simple and adaptable tool.
