The GHO launch in Brussels will focus on expanding the resource base in a context where climate change compounds the humanitarian funding gap. Climate change disproportionately affects vulnerable groups, increases humanitarian needs, and consequently creates a larger funding gap. Addressing the impact of climate change on humanitarian needs requires reaching out to a wider group of donors and partners to mobilize additional resources, reinforce common analysis and encourage a more coordinated and joint-up approach to respond to immediate needs as well as to manage underlying conditions in any specific humanitarian context.

This event aims to make the case that expanding the resource base is an important means to prepare for and respond to growing humanitarian needs, including those deriving from climate change. This event is also expected to build momentum towards the main session of the European Humanitarian Forum on “expanding the resource base”.

The launch and panel discussion will take place from 11:30 to 13:00CET/Brussels time, 2 December.

The event will be live-streamed here and on UN Web TV.
