Droughts, fires, floods, pressure on resources, the weakening of public services, budgetary constraints… Local authorities are facing a mounting number of challenges that test our collective ability to adapt and highlight the urgent need to strengthen crisis management at the grassroots level.

For more than ten years, third places, FabLabs and numerous community-led initiatives have been experimenting – often with limited resources – with practical responses to these changes. They are developing innovative forms of cooperation, fostering local solidarity, supporting transitions and strengthening residents’ capacity for action. Their experience now constitutes a valuable collective heritage.

At the same time, recent developments in the national ecosystem are ushering in a new era that inevitably calls for a rethinking of the forms of cooperation between networks, local authorities, public bodies, businesses and citizen-led initiatives. Before devising new mechanisms, it is worth creating a space where those already taking action can share their experiences. How do their approaches complement one another? What are the expectations and areas requiring particular attention?

Managers of third places, FabLabs, national and regional networks, citizen-led initiatives, local authorities, and public and private partners will come together to explore the prospects for a shared approach, without a pre-established model. Groupe URD will be there to share its experience as part of the Entraide & Crises project.
