Context

Quality has progressively become a central issue within international organisations, in line with a number of quality initiatives internationally (Sphere, HAP, the Quality Compass, and the CHS). This growing interest in quality has had a number of direct consequences: the establishment of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) departments in the majority of organisations; the professionnalisation of quality-related jobs; and the standardisation of practices. Many actors have also decided to develop internal policies related to project quality, based on international standards. Some have already adopted these policies, while others are currently exploring the issue.

Objectives

Groupe URD is organising a webinar for actors interested in this topic to look at current approaches and share experiences and points of view. The objectives are: to share the lessons learned by organisations who have already taken this step; and to allow other actors to share their questions and reflections about defining an internal quality policy.

Possible focuses of discussion could be :

  • How to link an internal quality policy to international quality frameworks ?
  • How can cross-cutting topics be integrated into internal quality frameworks?
  • How should quality frameworks be adapted to operational contexts and how can we ensure that there is a balance between standards and operational constraints?
  • What critical points / lessons learned are there in terms of deploying a quality policy?

Speakers

Groupe URD & Humanity & Inclusion (Handicap International)

In 2022, Groupe URD accompanied Humanity & Inclusion (Handicap International) in updating their internal project Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation (PME) policy, originally established in 2015. This led to the production of a lessons learned document. Marie Faou (Quality Advisor, Groupe URD) and Chloé Charpentier (MEAL Manager, HI) will be speaking about the experience of revising the internal policy and will present the next steps of the revision process.

Solidarités International

Since 2021, Solidarités International has been working on its new project and quality management methodology. Florian Karekinian (Project Management Focal Point) will be with us to share the issues raised by this project as it has progressed.

Time: 9.30 to 11.00 am, in French
