In 2025, following support on issues of gender, diversity, and inclusion, Groupe URD reformulated its mission statement to highlight the systemic nature of the changes underway and its commitment to a political analysis of crises and vulnerabilities:

« In the face of current crises and the upheavals to come, to support the transformation of the aid sector towards renewed solidarity. This renewed solidarity refers to a profound transformation of aid relationships and practices: dismantling neo-colonial dynamics, shifting the power to act back into the hands of local and national actors, and grounding solidarity in the principles of equity, social justice, gender justice and respect for life. Groupe URD thus stands out for its unique approach, which is both critical and constructive, informed by a constant dialogue between crisis zones and strategic reflection. Its position at the crossroads of applied research, action and training enables it to bridge the gap between operational actors, public institutions and policy-makers ».

This mission is reflected in Groupe URD’s various activities, in the work of its networks, in its support as a learning partner, and in its training programs, studies, and research.
