Humanitarian needs have never been higher. Innovation is essential, both to meet today’s challenges and to prepare for those on the horizon. The H2H (humanitarianto-humanitarian) Network has activated its fund mechanism to support members in developing new services aiming at unlocking change and driving improvements across the wider humanitarian system.

Three H2H Members are receiving financial support and guidance on how to bring their innovations to scale: ADAPT initiative is one of them!

ADAPT, an initiative on climate and humanitarian crises, aims to improve preparedness and response to environment-related disasters. A website has made resources on the subject available and a study (in English) was conducted in 2021 on “Climate Change and Humanitarian Action“. This support from H2H will allow to better structure the ADAPT initiative and help it consolidate with its key partners, AIDMI and Groupe URD.

The ADAPT initiative aims to:

  • Build a broader and more inclusive coalition around climate-related crises.
  • Raise awareness on the threats of, and responses to, climate-related crises.
  • Support organisations in affected countries to generate and share knowledge of ‘what works’ in responding to climate-related crises.
  • Assist humanitarian and disaster management organisations to plan for climate-related crises.
  • Make scientific knowledge on climate and disasters available to communities and practitioners on the ground.
