On 1 November 2021, President Biden launched a new initiative to combat global warming called PREPARE (President’s Emergency Plan for Adaptation and Resilience). PREPARE will support developing countries and communities in vulnerable situations around the world in their efforts to adapt to and manage the impacts of climate change.

To avoid any confusion, the PREPARE initiative that is hosted by Groupe URD has changed its name to ‘ADAPT’. This initiative, which will provide the humanitarian and emergency relief community with a platform and resources to improve its ability to respond to climate change-related disasters, is pursuing its launch phase, funded by Australian Aid.

ADAPT has published a report analysing in detail the relationship between climate change and humanitarian action. It asks how climate change will affect humanitarian needs, outlines the current state of readiness to meet these needs; proposes changes that are required to improve readiness and response capacities; and suggests a series of activities that would support these changes.
