A little over a year after the outbreak began, British and American military teams are withdrawing from West African countries where they had intervened. Finally, we have the impression that the situation has come under control, even if medical organizations insist on strict caution, since this is a virus that likes to thwart predictions. Thanks to this respite, which we hope will last, François Grünewald is taking a step backwards on this crisis at the same time as putting into historical and geopolitical perspective the health risks to which it refers.
