Cities at war, wars in the city: research project, 2004

The research project "Cities at war - wars in the city" was the subject of a series of studies in three countries of the ZSP (Mali, Guinea and Angola), interviews with heads of international agencies and humanitarian organizations as well as a literature review on the theme. In addition, research (not funded under PRUD) in metropolitan areas outside the SPA (Bogota, Kabul and Peshawar) has provided us with additional data. The analysis of the survival and adaptation strategies of displaced or refugee populations, on which the intervention strategies of international solidarity organizations (ISOs) are based, was the pillar of this study. However, within the framework of this workshop, we will limit ourselves to presenting an overview of the rationale for the intervention of D&R NGOs in cities in conflict situations.
