Given the number and complexity of humanitarian crises, combined with the impacts of climate change and the COVID-19 health crisis, international aid organisations need to continually renew  and adapt their operational and management practices and methods. In parallel, the way that the aid sector is evolving, particularly in relation to ‘localisation’, has confirmed the need to develop more training courses for local NGOs and field staff.

Groupe URD and CartONG, who are both members of the H2H Network, have therefore decided to develop a training course for field staff covering Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), and information management.

Funded by the Get Ready Fund, the project, entitled ‘MEAL CHS – Quality and Accountability into practice’ has three objectives:

  • Providing training that is relevant and financially viable;
  • Developing up-to-date and contextualised online training modules for field staff to help them improve the quality of their projects;
  • Improving the availability of online courses and services that allow field staff to adapt and react to crises more rapidly.

The first step of the project will be to evaluate needs. Groupe URD has therefore begun to consult its MEAL contacts and its partners in general. If you would like to share your views with us in connection with this project, please get in touch at the following address: alear@urd.org.
