It is also an exercise in accountability for the French state, with respect to its commitments. As such, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs commissioned Groupe URD to carry out the mid-term review of the French Humanitarian Strategy.
In addition to this review, Groupe URD was involved in the preparatory work for the conference alongside numerous organisations (NGOs, the Red Cross, the Ministry of foreign and European Affairs, AFD, etc.). It focused on three main themes:
- The humanitarian-development-peace nexus;
- Taking climatic and environmental issues into account in humanitarian action, and the Statement of Commitment on Climate by Humanitarian Organisations;
- The role of local stakeholders, particularly in the current context of the Covid crisis.
Groupe URD will also be taking part in exchanges with the press before the conference, at 2 pm on 15 December, which is organised by Coordination Sud via Zoom.
