The Environment – a centrally important issue for Groupe URD

Groupe URD, in partnership with the Joint UNEP/OCHA Environment Unit, will be running a two-day training course on “Integrating environmental issues into humanitarian action” at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on 19 and 20 November 2013. This session will be held in English. Though humanitarian actors are increasingly conscious that the environment needs to be taken into account in the design and implementation of programmes, they sometimes do not have the necessary elements to integrate this approach into their activities. This training course will help participants to understand the links between the environment, crises and humanitarian action at each stage of the project cycle and to promote an environmental approach in their organisations and more generally throughout the humanitarian sector.

In addition, with the IPCC once again presenting pessimistic scenarios about changes to the climate, Groupe URD is re-affirming its mobilization on these issues with the publication of a special « Environment » issue of its review, Humanitarian Aid on the Move. Environmental considerations are essential in our work and our practices, as can be seen from developments at our headquarters which has become an “environmental model”.

To register for the course, please complete and send a registration form before 4 November to Anna Lear
